Labor Day + Fall Event Season Opens in Marin & SF

Labor Day + Fall Event Season Opens in Marin & SF: What to Book

Last updated: August 2026

Quick Answer

Labor Day weekend is September 5–7, 2026 — the last big backyard weekend of the season in Marin and San Francisco. Fall event booking opens now for school carnivals, company picnics, and church harvest festivals across San Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley, Marin County, and San Francisco. Every unit is AIG insured and California state-inspected, and we handle Rec & Park permit paperwork for park sites including Stafford Lake, McNears Beach, and McInnis Park. Call 415-499-0955 to hold a date.

The goal isn't filling a calendar slot. The goal is that the September and October events already on your schedule — the school carnival, the company picnic, the harvest festival, the last backyard party of the summer — go off without anyone chasing a vendor or a permit office the week of. In Marin and San Francisco the permit is usually the long pole, and fall is when that starts to matter.

Two Things Are Happening at Once

First, Labor Day weekend — September 5–7 — is the last multi-day stretch where a backyard party still reads as summer. Marin's microclimates decide the unit: Novato and inland San Rafael hold warm afternoons into September, while Mill Valley and much of San Francisco can fog in by mid-afternoon. If your site is on the cool side, a combo bouncer with a wet/dry slide covers both outcomes.

Second, fall event season opens. Schools are back and PTAs are locking festival dates, companies are scheduling employee appreciation events, and churches are planning harvest and trunk-or-treat. Most of these land at park or school sites, which means permits and certificates of insurance — and permit lead time is the reason early October dates get taken in early September.

The 4 Bookings Marin & SF Should Lock This Month

1. The Labor Day Backyard Party

September 5–7. A water slide still works for a warm Novato or inland San Rafael yard; a combo bouncer with a wet/dry slide is the hedge if your site is coastal or in the city. Holiday weekends are maximum-demand days, so calling early in the week gives you real choice instead of whatever is left.

2. The School Carnival or Field Day

Our Smooth School Setup package is built for Marin PTAs and school event coordinators: AIG-insured, state-inspected units, on-time delivery, and the permits and certificates of insurance handled — including for events held at park sites rather than on campus. School dates are fixed and they cluster, so an October festival is a September phone call.

3. The Company Picnic or Employee Appreciation Day

The Corporate Engagement Upgrade covers company picnics, team-building days, and employee appreciation events across Marin and San Francisco. Corporate events here frequently land at permitted venues — McInnis Park, McNears Beach, an SF Rec & Park site — and we handle the permit and the certificate of insurance as part of the booking.

4. The Church or Community Harvest Festival

The Park Party Package is for fall festivals, trunk-or-treat, and community harvest events. These are the most permit-dependent bookings on the fall calendar, and October weekends fill early — with trunk-or-treat concentrating on the last two weekends of the month. If the date is set, the permit clock starts now.

Why Marin & SF Organizers Choose Astro Jump

AIG Insured
State-Inspected
Permit Handling
Backup Unit Guarantee

Three commitments matter more in fall than they do in July, because a school carnival or a permitted park event cannot be quietly moved to next Saturday.

We handle the Rec & Park permit. Park bookings across Marin and San Francisco carry paperwork — applications, insurance certificates, site and anchoring conditions. We handle that for Stafford Lake, McNears Beach, McInnis Park, and SF Rec & Park sites, which is the single biggest reason fall organizers here stop doing it themselves.

The backup unit guarantee. Equipment fails. A school festival does not get rescheduled. If a unit has a problem on the day, a replacement comes out — the event keeps running instead of losing an attraction while someone works the phones.

AIG coverage and California state inspection on every unit. Every inflatable we deliver is state-inspected and carries AIG liability coverage. Districts, parks, and corporate venues all ask for proof, and we produce the certificate directly rather than making it your errand.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Labor Day weekend 2026?

Labor Day 2026 falls on Monday, September 7, making the holiday weekend September 5–7. It is the last three-day stretch of the summer season and a maximum-demand weekend for rentals across Marin and San Francisco, so dates go earlier than on a normal weekend.

Do we need a permit for a bounce house at a Marin or SF park?

Park sites generally require a permit and a certificate of insurance, and the requirements differ between Marin County parks and San Francisco Rec & Park. We handle that paperwork as part of the booking. Call 415-499-0955 with your park and date and we will tell you what the site requires and how much lead time it needs.

How far ahead should a school or church book a fall festival?

Earlier than most organizers expect, and earlier here than in most places because of permit lead time. Fall events cluster onto a small number of October Saturdays. If your date is set, call now — holding a date costs nothing and starts the permit process with room to spare.
